CAN U GIVE FIRST TOPIC FOR EVERY BODY (U AND ME) IN ORDER TO DISCUSS ?
FIRST QUESTION : WHY THE RAFTER FRAME OF THE SIDE SHOULD BE TRANSVERSELY CONSTRUCTED WHILE DECK AND BOTTOM ARE LONGITUDINALLY CONSTRUCTED ?
WHEN DO WE HAVE TO DESIGN THE SIDE WITH TRANSVERSE OR LONGITUDINAL CONSTRUCTION ?

It's a easy question, but it's good for a beginning. These are my answers:

- As it's know to all, side of the ship is the structure which must be resist the transversal force of wave and water presure , the rafter frames support to the side of ship, so they should be transversal constructed to satify general transversal strength. While deck and bottom are to take part in general longitudinal bending moment resistance so they are longitudinal contructed.
- And in the second part: transversal construction side used in almost kind of ship; and longitudinal construction side used in oil tanker, solid tanker, big cargo ship, fastspeed boat.

And the next question: What is position 1 and position 2.

Are u mentioning the construction members of type 1 and 2 ?
The members of Type 1 only suffer from total bending moment
The members of Type 2 suffer from total bending moment and beside the bending moment of rafter .
Is that correct because your question is not very clearance .
